Wind & shelter

Havre des Pas opens toward the south, so it is at its glassy best when the wind blows from the north (offshore) and choppiest in southerly winds (onshore). In the prevailing south-westerlies it sits side-on — often fine, sometimes breezy.

The Jersey Beach App reads the live wind and ranks all 18 bays by shelter, so you can check whether Havre des Pas is the right call before you leave the house.

Lifeguards & swimming

There is no seasonal lifeguard patrol at Havre des Pas. Swim with care, keep an eye on the tide, and never swim alone. Jersey has one of the world's biggest tidal ranges — conditions change fast.

Dogs on the beach

Jersey's dog rule is island-wide: from 1 May to 30 September dogs must be on a lead between 10:30 and 18:00; outside those hours — and from October to April — they can run free. Owners must clean up (fines up to £500), and local signage can add restrictions, so check on arrival. The app shows the live rule for right now.
